AS IT IS WRITTEN
ISAIAH 28:9-29:24
A preparatory followed by a fullfillment stage of divine revelation, the latter contained within a non-Hebrew text and rejected by the Jews
9 To whom will He teach knowledge, and to whom will He grant understanding of the message? Even those who have been weaned from the milk and removed from the breasts.
10 Because commandment must be added on to commandment, even commandment to commandment, and line must be added on to line, even line to line, so that some will be here and some there.
11 For through foreign speech and another tongue will He speak to this people,
12 To whom He shall say, “This is the rest through which you may cause the weary one to rest, and this is the respite,” but they will have no desire to listen.
13 Thus the word of the LORD must come to them as commandment added on to commandment, even commandment to commandment, and line added on to line, even line to line, so that some will be here and some there, in order that they might go and stumble backwards and be broken, and be ensnared and be taken.
The Pharisaic heresy and the strange and foreign-seeming aspect of Christ’s ministry — He is the foundation of the new true Zion
14 Therefore hear the word of the LORD, you mocking men who rule this people which is at Jerusalem --
15 For you have said, “We have made a covenant with death and have made a compact with Hell; the overflowing scourge, when it passes through, will not come near us, because we have made falsehood our refuge, and have hidden ourselves away in a lie.”
16 Therefore so says the Lord GOD, “Behold, I will lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, an utterly reliable foundation: the believer will not become agitated.
17 “And I will use judgment as a measuring line and righteousness as a plummet, and hail shall sweep away the refuge of falsehood, and water shall overflow the hiding place.
18 “And your covenant with death will be broken, and your compact with Hell will lack validity; when the overflowing scourge passes through, it surely will trample you down.
19 “From the time it begins to pass through will it start taking you off, for it will pass through each morning, and by day and by night, so that merely understanding the reports will be vexatious.
20 “Because the couch is too short for one to be able to stretch himself out on, and the covering is too narrow to put one’s self in.”
21 For the LORD will rise up as at mount Perazim and will bestir Himself as at the valley by Gibeon, to perform His deed, though strange will His deed be, and to perform His service, though foreign-seeming will His service be.
22 And now do not mock, lest your afflictions become even more severe, because a consumption already determined upon have I heard of from the Lord GOD of hosts for all the land.
A preparatory stage, the sowing of the seed of the Gospel, and the eschatological surfacing and concretization in the fulness of understanding of the Lord’s true church
23 Give ear and listen to my voice, be attentive and listen to my words.
24 Does the plowman only plow the whole day long to sow, only opening and harrowing his field?
25 When he has smoothed its surface, will he not scatter caraway, and throw in cummin, and plant wheat in its rows and barley in its area and spelt at the edge?
26 And he will then beat the grain out appropriately, his God having caused it to rain upon it;
27 Because caraway is not threshed with a threshing sledge, nor is a cartwheel rolled over cummin — but caraway is beaten out with a rod, and cummin with a stick.
28 For bread, grain must be crushed; yet one does not thresh it forever, or destroy it with his cartwheel, or crush it with his horsemen.
29 This also has come from the LORD of hosts, who is wondrous in counsel and of great wisdom.
The destruction of Jerusalem for a second time, but with no spoil for her besiegers, and her speaking to the men of these last days through archaeological finds
1 Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city where David encamped! Add year to year, go through the round of festivals.
2 And then I will distress Ariel and there will be mourning and lamentation, and it shall be to Me again as it was before at Ariel.
3 For I will encamp round about you, and I will lay siege against you with a mound, and I will raise siegeworks up against you.
4 And having been brought down, you will speak low out of the earth, and your speech will be low out of the dust; and your voice will come, like that of a necromancer, out of the earth, and your speech will whisper out of the dust.
5 And the multitude of those foreign to you will be like fine dust, and the multitude of the terrible ones like passing chaff, and it will occur suddenly, instantly.
6 You will be visited with thunder and quakings and great noise from the LORD of hosts, storm and tempest and flames of a devouring fire.
7 And the multitude of all the heathen that war against Ariel will become like a dream of a night vision, as well both her own hosts and defenses, and those who distress her.
8 And it will be as when a hungry man dreams, and behold, he eats, but then he awakes and is still empty; or when a thirsty man dreams, and behold, he drinks, but then he awakes, and behold, he still is weary and thirsty — so shall the multitude of all the heathen become, that was against mount Zion.
The intertestamental prophetic interlude, the Pharisaic “Oral Law” and mystification of Scripture, and the miracles of the blessed Jesus
9 Be amazed and wonder, cry out and shout. They are drunken, but not through wine, they stagger, but not through liquor.
10 For the LORD has poured out upon you the spirit of a coma, and has closed your eyes: the prophets, even your heads the seers, has He covered over.
11 And the vision of all of them has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, that people give to a learned man, saying, “Please read this,” who says, “I cannot, because it is sealed.”
12 And when the book is given to one who is not learned, saying, “Please read this,” he says, “I am not learned.”
13 And the Lord says, “Because this people approaches Me, honoring Me with their mouths and lips while their heart is removed far from Me, and their form of reverence for me arises from the teaching of man-made commandments;
14 “Therefore, behold, I must act further wondrously with this people, wondrously and marvelously, for the wisdom of their wise ones has been lost, and the understanding of their understanding ones is hidden away.”
The victimization of the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples by the oppressing Judaics, Synagogue of Satan — their atheism, invasions, racism, kangaroo courts, and mass expulsions; their utter destruction, followed by the conversion of the Palestinians
15 Woe to those who plummet to the depths to devise secret counsel to depart from the LORD, whose deeds are in the darkness, and who say, “Who sees us, and who knows about us?”
16 But you have turned things upside down! Can the potter be considered the same as the clay? Can something made say of the one who made it, “He did not make me!” or something formed of the one who formed it, “He has no understanding”?
17 Will it not be just a very little while, and Lebanon will return to being a fruitful field, a field so fruitful it will be thought of as a forest?
18 And the deaf will hear on that day the words of the Book, and out of dimness and darkness the eyes of the blind will see again.
19 And the humble will multiply joy in the LORD, and the destitute among men will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
20 Because the terrible one will have come to his end and the mocker will have been consumed, and all those who wait upon iniquity will have been cut off,
21 Those who would count a man an offender for anything, and who set a snare in their courts for any who would reprove them, and who turn the righteous one aside into the void.
22 Therefore, so says the LORD to the house of Jacob, even He who redeemed Abraham, “Not now will Jacob be ashamed, and not now will his face turn pale:
23 “For when his children see the work of My hands that I will perform in their midst, they will sanctify My Name” — for then will they sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and fear the God of Israel.
24 Then will those who erred in spirit come to knowledge and understanding, and those who once murmured will learn the doctrine of truth.
