WORK A MIRACLE THEN
PART II: THE PERIOD OF ECONOMIC DISLOCATION
The five-month period of Revelation 9:1-12, referring to the time to elapse between the division of the Roman Empire by Constantine the Great in 330 A.D. and the fall of the city of Rome to Odoacer in 476, through whom the sixth aspect or incarnation of the beast was “as it were wounded to death” (13:3), refers to a 146-year period rather than one of five thirty-year months precisely, like the seventy sevens of that first predictive chronology expanded from a basic time unit, that of Daniel 9:24-27 — “ ‘Seventy sevens are decreed concerning your people and concerning your holy city, in order to consume away the trespass and to make an end of sin and to make atonement for iniquity and to usher in eternal righteousness; and to make an imprint of visions and prophecies and to anoint the most holy. And know and understand that from the going forth of the word to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until an anointed one, a ruler, shall be seven sevens; and for sixty-two sevens shall it be restored and rebuilt with both street and trench, but in times of distress. And after the sixty-two sevens an anointed one shall be cut off and shall have no one; and the people of the ruler that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary, so that its end shall be with a flood; and there shall be war even until the end, for desolations have been determined upon. And he shall cause during a one-heptad period a covenant that had been for many to be enforced; and he shall cause the sacrifice and offering to cease at the halfway point of the heptad; and there shall be abominations at all corners that shall cause desolation, even until the consumption that has been determined upon shall have been poured out upon the desolate’ ” — which extend in fulfillment from 422 B.C., the second year of Darius II king of Persia, through 372, the year of the formal, ceremonial dedication of the wall of Jerusalem by Nehemiah in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes II Mnemon, and from then to the outbreak of the Jewish revolt against Rome in 66 A.D., the assassination of Vitellius in 69, the destruction of Jerusalem and the Second Temple in 70 by Titus, and the final crushing of the Jews with the fall of Masada in 73 (see Leviticus 25; 26:18, 21, 24, 28, 34-35, 43; II Kings 24:15; II Chronicles 36:21; Ezra 4:24-5:2; 6:14-15; 7:1, 7-8; Nehemiah 1:1; 2:1; 5:14; 7:4; 11:1-2; 12:27; 13:1, 6; Jeremiah 25:8-11; 29:10-14; Daniel 9:2; Zechariah 1:7, 16-17; 2:1-5; 8:1-15; and the book of Haggai; and compare Ezra 4:4-7:1 and Nehemiah 8:9 with the sequence of Persian emperors down to Artaxerxes II, being with their dates of reign: Cyrus the Great, 538-529; Cambyses, 529-521; Darius I the Great, Hystaspis, 521-485; Xerxes I the Great, 485-464; Artaxerxes I Longimanus, 464-423; Xerxes II, 423; Darius II, 423-404; Artaxerxes II Mnemon, 404-358). A Biblical month has thirty days, as in Genesis 7:11 and 8:3-4. The use of the month as a unit is symbolic of the thirty-year reign, 307-337, of Constantine, the numerical equivalent of whose name transliterated into Hebrew script, that is, “Constantinus king of Rome,” being 666, as in Revelation 13:18; and first the Scripture had said in Daniel 11:30-35 prophesying the Hellenistic Syrian oppression, the Maccabean revolt, the Roman destruction of the Jerusalem Temple and the placing of the abomination of desolation, as in Matthew 24:15 and Mark 13:14, Rabbi Akiba and his false messiah Bar Cochba (and the Talmud, incidentally, compares this rabbi in regard to wisdom to the prophet Moses, though the Judean two-thirds of Palestinian Jewry died through his counsel, so fulfilling Zechariah 13:8), the preaching of the Gospel, the appearance of the Synagogue of Satan and the subsequent loss of the ethnic Jews as in Luke 13:1-9 (and compare Ezekiel 5:3-4 in the context of chapters 4 and 5) at the end of 1260 days, a time and times and half a time from 98 A.D. when the book of Revelation was given, but 1290 from the days of the siege, and the war against the men of Jacquerie in 1358, the understanding ones, even the people who know their God; and as the section is paralleled in Revelation 12 (and compare Ezekiel 20:33-38 and Zechariah 5): “For ships of the Chittim will come against him, and he will lose heart and withdraw; then will he become enraged against the holy covenant and returning, recognizing only those who forsake the holy covenant, he will himself act against it. And arms will rise up from among us; yet they will profane the sanctuary of strength and remove the continual offering and place the abomination that makes desolate. And one will corrupt those who act wickedly against the covenant through smoothness of speech; but the people who know their God will gain in strength and act valiantly. And those who understand among the people will instruct many; but even so they will fall by the sword and by flame, by captivity and by spoil, certain days. And when they fall they will receive only slight aid; but many will cleave to them through smoothness of speech. And some will fall even among the understanding ones, to refine them and to purify and render them white even until the time of the end, for that will be even at the time appointed”; but then in 36-39 describing this Constantine: “And the king will act according to his will, and exalt and magnify himself over every god; and he will speak marvelous things against the God of gods; but he will succeed until the time of wrath has ended, for what has been decreed will be performed. And he will not recognize the gods of his fathers, neither will he recognize that in which women delight, or indeed any god, for he will magnify himself over all of them. But he will officially honor a God of fortresses, for a God whom his fathers had not known will he honor with gold and with silver and with precious stones and with delightful things; and he will make adornments of these for most mighty fortresses including images of a foreign God. He will greatly honor those who recognize his innovation and grant them rule over many and divide land among them as their wage”; and from the Hebrew representation of the number 666 itself, this consisting entirely of letters, can be formed the word meaning “turning aside” or “apostasy” — the name of the beast; and note how Revelation 8:6-9:21 and 16:1-16 clearly parallel each other, and how the image of the beast already existed, which is to say in context that it was then in a formative stage, when the plagues began (or as some might say were intensified), as in 16:2 — for the first of the successor polities to the Roman Empire, those being in its image, began to emerge through him, being included within the sixth of eight, as in 17:7-11, seven kings, and these are kingdoms, as in Daniel 7:17 and 23, for he says of the heads, “and those are seven kings,” which are Egypt-Nubia (as in Isaiah 43:3), Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome and Arabia, and an eighth to appear at the end, the metamorphosed form of the Eastern Empire, which is the beast itself, bearing the full measure of the impurity, guile and fury of its master, being yet the site of his throne and his dwelling place since ever there was a Russian state, and that is the Marxist tyranny of the Third Rome, for “the beast that was and is not, that is even the eighth, but is one of the seven, and goes to destruction.” And who is not aware of the militant atheism, tyrannical aspect, general aura of treachery, random state-sponsored terror the like of that of South Africa, and connection with both the internal Judaic threat and world Russian imperialism of the Marxist ideology? And see this guile and treachery concealed behind the posturing and obscurantism of the Marxists, for surely the emergence of the commissars and Party members as a new elite within the Soviet Union, who second the carrot on a stick called by them “progress” — the only fruit of which is a massive and ever expanding armaments industry grounded in unalloyed destitution and despair primed for nothing but the physical extermination of the American people — with the whiplash of the totalitarian police state, can only be viewed as a self-evident betrayal of the will and class interest of the poor.
And note how the movement of Stephen Razin from the Cossack lands above the Caspian Sea to the Solovetskiy Monastery in the White Sea area at the extreme north of Russia and then back down by way of Moscow to the vicinity of Astrakhan again garnering support for the massive peasant rising under Old Believer auspices and inspiration of 1667-71, and as discussed elsewhere, may be traced to 1665, 1335 years past the highly significant date of 330 A.D., that of the founding of Constantinople and the emergence of the Eastern Roman Empire — but Russia has ever since she first came out from under Mongol domination been the dwelling place of the devil and the site of his throne and was ultimately after she murdered the warner and holy one in 1916, true Antipas, to partake of the Satanic nature and being to such an extent as to constitute a virtual materialization of his abhorrent and loathsome twice-malignant self, though they were wonder-bright lands past all conceiving, ever triumphant, from which he was expelled, and he is to wait in the Abyss as though he slept in the fields and ate dung, he and the serpent and the king of Babylon, 360,000 years for a moment’s release and the war of Gog and Magog and annihilation at its end — and how we find reckoning back 1335 years from 330 A.D. in the very year, even 1006 B.C., in which the prophet David began his seven and a half year reign in Hebron (for Solomon came to the throne in 965, and as established elsewhere), the death of Jonathan, the righteous son of a wicked house, who was to have ruled together with the prophet, as a sign of the utter and irremediable depravity of the Russian heart (and see I Samuel 23:15-18; 31:1-7; II Samuel 1:25-27; 2:11; I Chronicles 10:1-7; Daniel 12:8-12; and Malachi 2:17; 3:13-4:3).
There were, however, independent rulers over the Western Empire only from 395, and these are the ten of Revelation 17:12-18, who were Honorius, Valentinian III, Petronius Maximus, Avitus, Majorian, Libius Severus, Anthemius, Olybrius, Glycerius, and Julius Nepos, and by implication an eleventh little one coming up, as in Daniel 7:8, and this was the last, eleventh Western emperor, Romulus Augustulus, who was deposed by Odoacer in 476; and these parallel the first ten absolutist rulers of the unified Empire, being Julius Caesar, Octavian, Tiberius, Gaius Caligula, Claudius, Nero, Galba, Otho, Vitellius, and Vespasian, in whose days the city of Jerusalem and the Second Temple were destroyed by Titus, who later became the eleventh, and as in Daniel 7:7-8, 19-25. We may add, as though in passing, that the three former kings to be overthrown by the eleventh represented by the three horns of the first ten uprooted by an eleventh that rises up later, are Galba, Otho, and Vitellius, who were assassinated in rapid succession during the year 69 partly through the machinations of Vespasian and his son Titus. And a prophetic outline of the history of this Fourth Kingdom may be found in Daniel 2:40-43 as well, for the Scripture reveals there how it will first be as strong as iron but will later be divided and yet remain powerful, and how a part will then continue strong while the residue is being further broken down, this process leading to the people of these lands becoming mingled with the seed of other men while both portions retain their independence of each other. Truly the Kingdom is the Lord’s; He gives it to whoever He wants and will yet raise up over it the lowest of men (Psalm 22:28; Daniel 4:17).
And note further the recrudescence of Roman Catholicism destined to bring on the War of Gog and Magog at the end of all time, as prophesied in Zechariah 13:2-6, for see there the idols and their false prophets who have no relatives but parents, wear hairy mantles in apparent imitation of John the Baptist and live in or frequent a “house of beloved ones,” see actual visions and prophesy in the Name of the Lord, but through the influence of “the spirit of impurity,” which is the spirit of antichrist (and compare Revelation 16:12-16, a section referring to the Crusades, as established elsewhere, and thus to the historic Roman Catholic Church as well; and even as the aftermath of the battle of the Horns of Hattin at Armageddon, the mountainous hinterland of Megiddo, July 4, 1187, that broke the power of the usurping and idolatrous Crusaders, is referred to symbolically as a great mourning of aliens, here Syrians, for their chief deity Hadadrimmon — meaning “Pomegranate Breasts,” a mocking Hebraized form of a compound foreign name representing images of Mary, though of course the Biblical Mary is quite innocent of all that others do, clearly the central figure of the Catholic pantheon to whom the “vain repetitions” of Matthew 6:7 are ever addressed — in Zechariah 12:11, we knowing that the Jewish families of 12:10-14 in fact represent “all the tribes of the earth,” as in Revelation 1:7; and compare 6:15-17), who display stigmata of the hands, and whose parents “pierce them through,” this being the same word our holy and true prophet had just used above in 12:10, saying, “and they will look toward Me whom they pierced through”; and this father and mother are affirmed to be the ones who gave birth, which is a seeming stylistic redundancy and is furthermore repeated, to distinguish them from others also recognized as fathers and mothers — but the “names” here are those of evil ones, kings and popes and the like, or general terms such as “crucifix” or “creche” — “ ‘And it will happen on that day,’ says the LORD of hosts, ‘that I will cut off the names of the idols from the earth, and they will not be remembered any more; and also the prophets and the spirit of impurity will I cause to pass away from the earth.’ And it will be that whenever a man will prophesy again, that his father and his mother who gave birth to him will say to him, ‘You must not live, because you speak falsehood in the Name of the LORD’; and his father and his mother who gave birth to him will pierce him through when he prophesies. And it will happen on that day that the prophets will be ashamed each man of his vision when he prophesies it; neither will they wear hairy mantles any longer in order to deny and say, ‘I am not a prophet — I am a worker of the ground; for a man has assigned me possession of land since my youth.’ But then one will say to him, ‘What are those wounds between your hands?’ And then he will perforce say, ‘Those with which I became wounded in the house of those beloved to me.’ ” And the visions and prophecies of these evil ones intended to legitimize a restoration of Catholicism and through that private ownership and a general elitist reemergence certainly might contain comparatively minor successful prognostications such as those permitted to prophets of other gods during the Old Testament age as a trial for Israel, as per Deuteronomy 13:1-5; and see also Matthew 7:21-23; I Timothy 4:1-5; and II Timothy 4:3-4. And compare further in regard to this whole matter the well-known issues raised by Jeremiah 22:24-30 and their resolution. The self-serving policies of these later emperors contributed immensely to the progressive deterioration of the West and the fall of Rome, as is known, even though ongoing economic dislocation, the abandonment of hitherto fertile agricultural tracts and the concomitant appearance of extensive marshlands in large regions of Western Europe, plagues, the disruption and diminution of commerce, the decline of urban centers, and the expansion of deserts in Iberia and North Africa, had characterized the entire period from the days of Constantine, and as in Revelation 8:7-12 and 16:2-9. The denudation of the fertile topsoil and the expansion of the deserts brought furious dust storms in their wake hiding the light of the sun, moon and stars, as in 8:12, but also permitting the fierce rays of the sun to scorch the people with great heat at other times, as in 16:8-9 — and note this amazing personage called “the angel of the waters” in 16:5 and this second, “the one having authority over fire,” of 14:18, for everything in the universe, whether animate or inanimate to us, has within it a spark of life, being a thought image and so alive in the mind of the Most High — surely He came with the flesh of Heaven into this world which is His dream — “for in Him we live and move and exist” and “Like any dream when one awakes, so, O Lord, when You awake, You will despise their image,” that in reference to the children of the evil one, “Behold, these are the wicked: even those who prosper in the world, having attained to wealth,” He who “makes His angels winds and His ministers flames of fire,” He gives life to everything, and the host of Heaven worships Him (Acts 17:28; Psalm 73:20 and 12; Hebrews 1:3, 7; Nehemiah 9:6; Numbers 12:8; Psalm 17:15; Genesis 5:1-3; I Corinthians 11:7; I John 5:20; and Revelation 1:4-8, 17; 21:5-6; 22:12-16; and as compared with Isaiah 44:6 and 48:12; and see further Job 38:6-7 and Psalm 148); and these are the spirits of the ancient peasant Faith, spirit of the mountain, spirit of the tiger, spirit of the tree. And seemingly incongruous elements and even dimly apprehended half-images may now and then rise to awareness in a dream from deep within the subconscious of the dreamer.
